CMRH Student Placements

We are a community health agency with a strong commitment to providing and supporting excellent learning opportunities to students who want to undertake placements in community health practice, mental health, community development, research, advocacy, and policy support. CMRH is one of the growing independent and non-profit organizations in Victoria, providing mental health services looking at addressing definitive social determinants of health. Student placements mean a lot to us as it is one of promoting mental health and wellbeing services to our clients.

We have a supportive team that provides supervision and professional development opportunities. Although we do receive a few requests for student placements, we are able to accommodate most of the students, but others may miss due to the lack of available placement opportunities.

Eligibility

We accept students from TAFE, Universities and Colleges studying community development, social work, counselling, psychology, and other health courses. All students are required to have vaccination records, Working with Children Check (WWC) and current police check.

How to apply

CMRH has an online form or accepts you through the university placement request.

You may apply online, or TAFE/university coordinator arrange with the staff team to discuss placement arrangements. Depending on our capacity, our staff can get in touch with you within two to three weeks to confirm your placement and conduct an interview.

Use Student Placement Request Form

This form is to be completed by students studying for a certificate, diploma, degree, or master’s degree that contains a mandatory placement component to satisfy curriculum learning and study outcomes and who are interested to undertake a placement within the Centre for Migrant and Refugee Health.

• Cover Letter
• Other supporting documents if applicable.

All students are required to undergo a criminal history screening process prior to starting placement.
